Déserts

Déserts is a collection of five pieces for solo piano inspired by the theme of the desert and the poetic images associated with it.
Among these images: the idea of a psychological space suitable for inner listening of ourselves and the world, as well as the idea of vitality reinforced by extreme conditions.
Each piece evokes a particular desert:
1. Wadi Rum, the desert carved out by the river
Located in Jordan, this desert was originally the bed of a now dry river. Only the trace remains as a memory the ancient river: it is the desert.
2. Uyuni, the salt desert
It is the largest expanse of the world and it’s located is in Bolivia. When it rains, the water layer transforms this desert into a natural mirror that reflects the sky.
3. Atacama, the flowery desert
It is situated between southern Peru and northern Chile. Although it is one of the driest places on earth, Atacama turns, on average every five years, into a huge valley of flowers, thanks to the currents of El Niño.
4. Murzuq, the sand sea
It is a vast desert region (erg) of Libya made up of dunes, all of them identical, or almost identical.
5. Hammada, the rocky desert
A very common desert ecosystem in Western Sahara. Composed of arid lands and rocky plateaus, it is a place very hostile to life.
